Walking tours in Split are culture and history-oriented. It’s a 1700-year-old town for crying out loud! However, there is a part of history and culture in Split that is difficult to experience by accident or through a large group tour. Gastronomic pleasures are hidden and kept a secret, as part of the tradition and passed along through generations.

Let us take you on a journey of Croatian, and specifically Dalmatian, food and wine. Visit the green market called Pazar, fish market, a local butcher, cheese and prosciutto producers, wine shops and chocolate producers with your private guide. Learn the stories and myths about the ancient recipes still being prepared in Split.
After the walking tour, we’ll drive to the outskirts of town, between the mountain and the sea, and enjoy a private and personal cooking class with your guide and chef.

Recipes and vendors will change as season dictates; we will use only the freshest seasonal ingredients in our cooking class.

Split is a Dalmatian metropolis,  with a history, culture, gastronomy and lifestyle so diverse and unique that you could think that you’re visiting a 2 million people city rather than a 200,000 one.

Just like you will eat Turkey for Thanksgiving dinner in USA, you will eat Pasticada on Christmas, weddings and special occasions in Dalmatia. This dish is the ultimate Dalmatian pleasure.

In a region full of fresh seafood, signature dish is a slow cooked, marinated beef served with freshly made gnocchi and delicious red wines from the area.

We will get you to pick the vegetables, cut the beef, simmer it and cook it, get your hands in the dough for some wonderful gnocchi and finally enjoy the fruits of you labor.

Each house has a secret recipe of its own so we will take you in a small village outside of Split where our host makes her magic happen. While the beef is slowly stewing, we will take a tour of her husband’s wine cellar and vineyard to learn about Dalmatian wine.

This private cooking class will take you just outside of Split, Croatia. We’ll teach you that great cooking doesn’t need to be complicated or scary. Our hosts will guide through freshest Mediterranean ingredients and spices and show you ways how to prepare a feast without having to be a Master Chef.

Learn how to make fresh pasta with a sauce of freshly picked vegetables. Give it your best to stir with a wonderful wine risotto, learn how to grill a shark (!) steak or just have fun with a big bowl of mussels in red sauce. Upon request we can take you through the fish market, pick out some fresh fish and learn how to grill a whole fish on 400 meters altitude.

Do we even need to mention that everything will be paired to wines that the host produces himself form indigenous varietals.

Vagabundo is the alter ego of our host, who in his professional life is an organic winemaker and in his spare time an amazing cook. He will introduce you to his vineyard at 400 meters altitude on mountain Kozjak, teach you how to make a wicked Zinfandel risotto and delight you in a lesson of cleaning and grilling whole fish along with some organic vegetables also produced by him.

All ingredients will be fresh and seasonal, so every guest is going to have a unique experience to cherish and a lot of new cooking chops to impress the neighbors on the next neighborhood grill.
